After which, we visited the Grand Canyon National Park where we got to spend time and click pictures at multiple viewpoints and even slipped in a 30 minute trail. We then descended into the painted desert and the native American craft market where we caught a first glimpse of the canyons and the Colorado river. From there, there is a scheduled lunch stop at Flagstaff where we ate at a lovely family owned restaurant which had tasty sandwiches and soup. We were shown the Chapel of the Holy Cross and the breathtaking sights around. We went through the Seguaro Desert and spotted the different cactii, went past perennial water springs, learnt about Navajo culture, saw the landscape change as we went past New River, Ghost Mining towns and the famed Verde Valley with the Montezuma castle before our first scenic stop at Sedona. Naala introduced herself and the changing landscape of the Maricopa County as we headed to the Grand Canyon. The journey began on a positive note where Mrs.
She was happy to take a detour to the ATM so we could have money for the trip. She came on time and picked us up at Scottsdale where we were staying.
#PHOENIX AZ TO GRAND CANYON DRIVER#
Despite the relative delay, the tour guide cum driver was super friendly and accomodating. We were a group of 6 and we found Naala's tour of the Grand Canyon in the last minute. Kim brought the group back to Phoenix safely. Once we were done, there was one more stop for a group photo. Aside from the red rocks, this part of the trip was mainly an opportunity to shop if we wanted to. The next part of the trip was a visit to Sedona before we returned to Phoenix. We then went to Bright Angel Lodge for a few more photos and shopping. There were a few small rain showers which Kim handle well to get us time for a few photos. We then proceeded to visit Lipan and Grandview Points which provided great views of the canyon.
The lunch special was Navajo tacos which is about the size of a small personal pizza. The first stop was for lunch and shopping at the Cameron Trading Post. The majority of the paved roads were fine. If you’re not used to long drives, you might want to bring a cushion. The van was clean and had a few amenities (charging ports). She did a great job of providing information to help keep the long drive interesting throughout the day. Our driver was Kim who was very outgoing and knowledgeable about Phoenix history. The day started off early with pickup from our hotel at 7:30 am.
